PARTNERS IN
HEALING THE
WHOLE PERSON
Cancer is a life-changing disease that takes a tremendous physical and emotional toll on those affected. The Y and LIVE
STRONG
have joined together to create LIVE
STRONG
at the YMCA, a research-based physical activity and well-being program designed to help adult cancer survivors reclaim their total health.

Participants work with Y staff trained in supportive cancer care to safely achieve their goals such as building muscle mass and strength; increasing flexibility and endurance; and improving confidence and self-esteem. By focusing on the whole person and not the disease, LIVE
STRONG
at the YMCA is helping people move beyond cancer in spirit, mind and body.
• 12-week program meets in small groups twice per week.
• Guided on an exercise regimen by specially trained Y wellness staff (two coaches per small group).
• Build muscle mass and strength, increase flexibility and endurance and improve functional ability within a supportive social network.
• Reduce the severity of side effects, prevent unwanted weight changes and improve energy levels.
• FREE and open to the community.
• Prior to participating in program, participants must receive medical clearance from a physician.
