Your Jessamine County YMCA

Location

220 East Maple Street
Nicholasville, KY 40356
859-885-5013

The Jessamine County YMCA is a facility that cannot be defined by bricks and mortar. The building was constructed in the mid 1900’s as the Caroline Memorial House. It was furnished with running water, showers, washer/dryer and a small outdoor wading pool, amenities not common at the time, and served for years as an important place for community activities.

In the late 1970’s the City of Nicholasville requested the YMCA of Central Kentucky to expand operations into Jessamine County. The Jessamine County/ Caroline Memorial YMCA opened in 1977 with the Caroline Memorial House as its office and program space.

Today the little one story red brick building still stands, but the YMCA is not confined to its walls. Thousands of youth and teens, from Tates Creek to High Bridge to Southbrook, participate in YMCA programs each year. We serve the entire county.

We have successful programs in childcare, summer camp, aquatics, and youth sports. The key to our success is community collaborations. We have turned our limitations into quality programs that involve the entire community utilizing Jessamine County Schools, Asbury College, and Jessamine County Parks. We also collaborate with entities such as the Jessamine County Health Department and the migrant program to provide services that benefit everyone.

We have experienced tremendous growth over the last five years. With the growth of Jessamine County, we look forward to more opportunities to collaborate, serve, and provide quality programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.
